Editing in Windows Movie Maker; Can I Zoom on Clip

Is it possible within WMM to zoom in on an existing clip and only use a
portion of the frame(s), thus creating a movie that appears as if the zoom
feature on the camera had been used. I realize that quality is likley to be
degraded.

for complete control of the selection area, you need something more that
what comes with Movie Maker... such as Pixelan's Pan/Zoom Maker or custom
XML code.
