Editing documents after a merge

M

Margaret

Why am I unable to edit my merged documents in Word 2002
until I close the original merge document? For instance,
after I merge envelopes, and I want to make a change in an
address. I cannot make any changes to the merged documents
at all until I close the original it was merged from. This
never happened to me before I upgraded to Word 2002!
Thank you for any help you can give.

I've never seen this... Are you certain the merge process has
completed (look down in the Status bar and see if it's still
counting, or shows page numbers, etc.)?

Does this happen with a new document you set up as a merge,
as a test?

I seem to have a similar problem since I have upgraded.
When I open two word documents they both seem to lock...I
can select any words or point the cursor with the mouse
anywhere. I have to close both documents and reopen
them, but never can I have two word documents open at the
same time...

Any ideas...

This is pissing me off very badly because I bought XP
because 2000 was ****ing up the normal.dot template all
the time and now I get this shit...

Thanks in advance..
