Editing a slide show

I received a PowerPoint slide show and would like to edit the settings if
possible. As it stands, when you open up the show, it forces the user to
click through to advance the slides. I would just like to change it so that
the slides change automatically after 5 seconds. How do I do this? When I
click open, the show just opens directly into the slides and when I try to
hit esc out of it (like you do in PPT) to get to the editing options, the
show closes. Thank you.

Open PowerPoint. Then choose Open from the File menu and open your
presentation. It will now be in Edit mode and ready for you to edit.
Alternatively, change the file extension from .pps to .ppt.

Then, go to slide sorter view, select all the slides. Go to the Slide
Show menu and select Slide Transitions. Check the box for Advance Slides
Automatically After ... and put 5 in the box.

You can't edit it directly because it has been saved as a .pps file. First,
open powerpoint. Then Click File > Open, and choose the file you want to
open.

To allow the slides to change automatically after 5 seconds, click Slide
Show > Slide Transition.
Under Advance slide, uncheck On mouse click and tick Automatically after.
Set the time to 00:05.
Note that if you have animations that last for more than 5 seconds, it will
stick to that duration.

Thank you to both responses. I did that and it worked very well. I
appreciate it very much!
