Editable Form from Word Document...

I am trying to take an existing Word document and convert it to
another format such that I can do the following:

1) add balloons that can be filled in by the recipient of the document

2) changes to the document by recipient do not change the spacing or
format of the original document

3) the completed document with changes can be saved and/or printed

Document is in MS Word 2002 BUT I will be using Office 2003 Pro to
edit and make the necessary changes to adapt the file.

I have tried converting document to htm/html but it takes the 2-page
document and converts it into a 1-page htm/html file. I may eventually
post an htm/html version on webpage that offers the user the option of
filling in online and printing a hardcopy for snail mail.

I get what you are suggesting....

However, as I am new to Office, I am not sure what is the best way to
create the dynamic form. There is an Access database in effect that
can be linked to automatically fill in required fields for people
within the database using this existing form (mailmerge from the
database). Has been suggested, but hasn't been done yet. More interest
in creating an electronic form to be emailed and returned.

The word document was created by my supervisor to snail mail out a
form to be filled in and returned by snail mail. We are trying to
convert this document to use electronically.

What we are trying to determine is whether Access is the best to use
for an electronic form that is emailed, filled in by recipient, and
emailed back, and how one would create such a dynamic electronic
document.

Hope this helps clarify some of the details of the project.

You can use Access to instigate a merge of a single record, like:

http://www.datastrat.com/Code/WordMerge.txt

or:

http://www.members.shaw.ca/AlbertKallal/msaccess/WordMerge2008.zip

or you can run a merge from Word and do many at once. But for that, it would
be better to ask in a Word newsgroup.
