Edit Hyperlink Default Directory

I have a .htm document and in order for it to perform properly it is opened
with word(2003). There are approximately 15 hyperlinks within the doc. Most
of the hyperlinks are in a one directory, yet two are not. The issue is with
the two that are not in the same directory as the majority. The hyperlink is
now reading ../../share/file. What it should be reading is
file:///\\server\share\file. When editing the hyperlink the default directory
points to the directory in which the majority of the files reside. It is
possilbe to edit the path to reflect the correct one, but when saving the doc
it reverts to the incorrect path. Is there a fix for this? Is it not normal
for a document with multiple hyperlinks to have the links point to different
directories. (all of the paths are on a local file server) If anybody could
help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

Apart from the fact that you are asking a question and thus, presumably,
have a problem, there is nothing in your post describing anything actually
in error.

Does the hyperlink work?

By default hyperlinks are held as relative and may include parent
directories (../). Are you saying that Word is incorrectly converting an
absolute address to a relative one?

Lastly I'm not quite sure what you mean by the default directory when
editing the hyperlink.

OK,
I will attempt to be more clear this time. The problem is not an error, but
the fact that the link will not work. And yes I believe the link is being
converted from an absolute address to a relative one.
And by default directory, I mean when trying to edit the hyperlink in the
word document the directory that opens is what I am referring to. Also this
directoy is not where the link should be pointing to. Please advise.

Thanks,

Craig
