Edit existing site

New to Frontpage.

I've been assigned the task of updating web pages on an existing site. The
site was built with Frontpage 2003 and I have that same software.

How do I pull the page off the site and edit it, then publish it with
frontpage w/o breaking the links and paths to images?

I'm coming from Net Objects so Frontpage is a bit different.

Thanks for the help!

You need to "Open A Web" first (this is frontpage terminology).

1) Launch Frontpage
2) Go to File > OPen > Site
3) Type in the full URL of the site (including the 'http://www')
4) The site should open (if the server extensions are installed)
5) Once the site is open you can edit pages "live" by going to File > Open >
Page etc
6) OR you can go File > Publish and publish to your computer.
7) Then close the live web, open the local web through File > Open > Site
8) Open the pages, make the changes save, and then File > Publish > Site.

I'd say Frontpage is 10 steps down from Net Objects.....not as advanced,
although it has "wizards" and so forth, these are limited and a professional
designer would do a lot of custom coding rather than relying totally on
Frontpage to do the coding.

Hope the above assists.

There are these things called books. And websites. And Help sections in
programs. Have you tried any of them at all?

Thanks Andrew, I appreciate your help. Net Objects has been my choice from
Vr 5.x and I've used it extensivley with the exception of a few CMS tools. I
have version 7 now and tried loading the page from the server but the person
who built the page originally has things done awkwardly. All images, when
you try to download them, are mapped to clearpixel images rather than the
actual pic.

Again thanks for you help, all I needed was a heads up and I'll stumble my
way thru the rest, I'll post back if I get stuck.

Thanks

Crain, thanks for the constructive criticisim however misplaced it may be.
If you notice in the post I mentioned I'm familar w/ NOF. Being new to
Frontpage I'm lost and what good is a answer if you dont know the question
and vice versa.

I did try the program help files and googled a bit to find some help and lo
and behold google produced this site, aint technology amazing.

Thanks anyway.

It's not misplaced. You are asking such excruciatingly basic questions
that you couldn't possibly have done more than a nanosecond of research
before posting here. The lord helps those who help themselves, and all that.
