I need to disable hyperthreading to troubleshoot a
problem. No option to do this in BIOS, so I investigated
the boot.ini. I have XP Home, and after researching the
internet, have come up with the following 'last line'
entry for the boot.ini file. Now, boot.ini should read:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition no HT" /fastdetect /onecpu

Am I doing right?? If this does not work, can I do a F8
on startup and edit my boot.ini back to original? Thanks
for your help.

(The bios is not an option. I have a HP zd7000 laptop
which allows only a couple of changes to the bios. I
have researched this thoroughly with Intel and HP, and
they have no suggestions.)
