ECP setting on LPT1 Printer port

D

Dick Harrison

I am running XP Home SP2 -- I am trying to install a older HP all-in-one
printer. It requires the connection on the parallel port be in ECP. When I
go to Control Panel/System etc / Device Manager / Ports the LPT1 does not
have the ECP. I went the system BIOS at start up -- did not see any way to
set it. I tried both Google and Windows .Microsoft.com/search -- no luck in
getting any information.

Appreciate any guidance you may have.

Thanks, Dick

OK, nothing you've written will get you the answer you need.

Fine that you have an HP, but what model/ family etc.

To change the Printer Port settings one does this through BIOS: nowhere
else. In some HPs this is accessed by pressing F2 just after switching the
PC on. It then goes to SETUP.

Check your user manual for full step by step instructions, download one from
the HP website if yours is lost, call HP support if it's all too hard.
