Easy Question / Tasbar is extra thick?

I have a new PC running XP Pro and the blue taskbar at the bottom of the
screen is extra thick? It has enough room for a double layer of icons to be
shown in the taskbar.

How can I get it back to where it will only show one single line if icons
(for quick launch icons, etc....).

Grab the top edge of the bar with your mouse and drag it down

Then right click on the taskbar and click on "Lock the Taskbar".

And, of course, if the "Lock the toolbar" element on the toolbar
is checked, you'll need to uncheck "Lock the toolbar" before
making toolbar modifications. After making the mods, lock
the toolbar again. Then all will be right with the world.
