Easiest way to backup Outlook and BCM?

G

George

I wondered if an MVP might offer a definitive answer on this...
I'm using Outlook2003 with BCM. There are lots of help menu's on backing up
things. All I want is a fast, simple *total* backup (I'll put it on a CD or
another PC) in case lightning hits this PC and I have to reinstall Outlook
and retrieve my data. So...

FOR OUTLOOK: If I simply *copy* my Outlook.pst file (mine's 39MB), isn't
that all I need?
Isn't that a 100% copy of my entire Outlook* (email, calendar, contacts,
everything) ...and if I had to reinstall Outlook, all I'd need to do is copy
this file on top of the new/blank outlook.pst file, right? Do I really need
to bother with the Import/Export command stuff?

FOR BCM: I realize Outlook.pst does not include the BCM data. Is all I
need to do is...File > Business Database > Backup?

EVERYTHING. If I do both of above and had to to totally re-install
Outlook2003w/BCM, would the above two files be all I need to fully recover
and get back to exactly where I started before the PC crashed?

Thanks,
George

Dear,
Have a look and respond

Backup BCM here

Restore BCM here

For Outlook.pst file back - you can add the personal folder backup tool.

You don't need an import/Export wizard simply copy back the pst file in case
of "lightning".
The Personal Folders Backup tool does not address the backing up of several
files used by Outlook 2003. They are the following:

outcmd.dat - Registered Microsoft Exchange extensions (.dat)
Outlook.srs - Send/Receive settings (.srs)
Outlook.NK2 - Outlook contacts nicknames (.nk2)
Outlook.xml - Navigation Pane settings (.xml)
