Earthlink/IE on Dell XP

I get the feeling that there is no integration, just
stamped it XP compatible and sent it on its way.

When EarthLink comes up it displays this obnoxious page,
my guess is for the user to build their own page. I can't
get rid of it and can't log into it. Both the Dell and
Earthlink help are worthless.

A couple of previous problems may shed some light. I
could not lot into a secure page of EL until I put the
address in the trusted site. IE would not diplay page - I
found that unchecking proxy... fixed that form of the
problem. Sometimes MS Update works other times it dosen't.

EarthLink is always flaky. They seem to be so obsessed
with running cookies and java that sometimes I get 4
different windows wanting me to log in after I have
already logged in.

Have you considered uninstalling their software? What do you need it for?
You can connect to Earthlink just fine without using their software - browse
the web - use a mail client..etc.

Their software has indeed gotten more bloated/annoying over the years. If
you don't need it, ditch it.
