I'm have a weird problem with my windows 2000 server. as
it loads (just before the log on screen) i get an error
message "systemroot\system32\drivers\e100bnt5.sys device
driver could not be loaded", after which i can go no
further. is anyone aware of a resolution to this?

Thanks!

Sounds like an Intel based network card driver problem.

Have you fitted a new LAN card to the machine recently?
Have you tried starting in safe mode and re-installing the drivers?
Have you tried fitting a new LAN card and loading the drivers for it?

thanks frank.

we haven't fitted a new LAN card but what did happen was
that we had a RAID failure and had to rebuild the
workstation. starting in safe mode I get an error
message "registry cannot load hive (file)
systemroot\system32\config\security is corrupt, missing or
not writable" then it does a memory dump. I find it rather
weird and can't quite think of anything else....

regards

mike
