E:\$mft Corrupt

I removed Vista RC1 and went back to XP.
I used VistaBootPro to remove the Vista Bootloader.
But then I got a popup saying something like E:\$MFT is corrupt
I ran chkdsk /f e: and got this message
"The type of the file system is NTFS.
Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted."

I tried to use the XP CD to get to the recovery console but it doesn't
recognise my SATA drive.

My disk structure looks like this.
Number 6 is the e: drive.
Current partition structure:
1 * HPFS - NTFS 0 1 1 5221 254 63 83891367 [WINXP]
2 E extended 5222 0 1 18020 254 63 205615935

Download a drive diagnostic utility from the hard drive manufacturer's web
site.
