I have tried to send a text file by e-mail to no avail.
after I select the file to send,in the file anf folder
tasks< I then select e-mail this file. Bingo nothing
happens. What has gone wrong? what have I not done?

Try instead...

Composing the message, then attaching the text file to that message.
In O.E., click INSERT menu|FILE ATTACHMENT - then browse to the file.
