e-mail prog changes format of incoming e-mails

Damsel in Distress

I am using XP. I receive daily updates fm 5 different places, and now
suddenly when I receive these updates, the format is changed fm HTML to Plain
Text; it says so across the top of the e-mail. On XP incoming e-mail, there
is a format tab w/ a drop down menu. It SHOULD say "Send Pictures from the
Internet." And HTML should be checked. But my computer is changing the
format when I receive these particular e-mails, and now HTML is NOT checked,
and "Send Pictures from the Internet" is no longer an active link. I cannot
access anything at all from these daily update e-mails. All of the settings
in my computer seem to be correct. I wonder if it is one of the Microsoft
updates I did on March 30 to try to prevent the April 1 threat, but I don't
know how to find out.

you have outlook 2002?

Send pics from the internet applies to messages you send. Possibly also for
the HTML setting. In Outlook 2002, you need to set a reg key to read as
plain. http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/plain_text.htm

Damsel in Distress

I have XP operating system; using Outlook 2003 for e-mail. I have not
explained myself well. This is a problem with incoming e-mail. Across the
top of incoming email will be written the subject of the message and then
Plain Text or HTML. then under that there are several options:
File,Edit....Format. In the Format drop-down menu, HTML should be checked,
and the very last option is: Send Pictures From the Internet. That
particular link is essential to my accessing the information in the email
message. The option (Send Pictures from the Internet) is not offered in
outgoing e-mail. When I get my mail via webmail, I get it in the correct
format; when I get my mail via Outlook, the format is changed fmHTML to Plain
Text---and editing it to HTML does not help. I wonder if one of the updates
I installed has caused this problem.

I noticed another post today that describes my problem. It is from Jonathan

Are you using an antivirus scanner on incoming email? That will often cause
corruption in html messages and you'll either lose the HTML part or it will
not render and you'll see all the html tags in the message body.
