E-mail notifications on Welcome Screen

Hello,
Has anyone had this problem...I use MSN Hotmail and the e-mail notifications
on the Welcome screen never matches the actual number in my inbox! This
began several weeks ago, and after numerous efforts to "fix" this problem,
nothing has worked! Can anyone help?

You can get rid of that message:

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic­rosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\­UnreadMail\[Y­ouremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).
