e-mail not showing picture's

Hi,
Don't quite know how to say this, but here goes, just got
an e-mail from a friend sending me some kind of joke
about cards, the only thing is all I have is the little
boxes with a red X in left hand corner and no picture of
the cards. Is there a way to get into somewhere and fix
this so I can see what it is? I haven't got the slightest
clue as to how to do this, would appreciate any help I
can get.
