E-mail merge -- changing "from" field

M

MarkD

Using Word 2k and outlook 2k. Note that this is x-posted
to a Word and Outlook newsgroup.

I have successfully done and e-mail merge, but now I need
to do an e-mail merge using a different profile for a user.

For example, my username is MarkD, and I have a profile
under my username called GeneralEmail. I want the Word e-
mail merge to show (e-mail address removed) as the
sender e-mail instead of (e-mail address removed).

I can't figure out a way to do this; it always shows
(e-mail address removed).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Mark

You can only do this if you start Outlook with a profile that has the
address of the general mailbox set as the primairy e-mail address.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your response. Is there an easy way to do this,
or does this require an administrator to change?

On an aside, is there a way to remove the dialog box that
warns you about a possible vb script virus when doing a
bulk mail? A 200+ item mail merge is going to get pretty
tedious if we can't bypass that. I'm guessing that's an
administrator issue as well?

Right now we're doing this from Word. If I used a contact
list from Outlook, would it bypass that message then?

Thanks,
-Mark

Hi Mark,

You must indeed have Exchange permissions on the mailbox. Your administrator
can verify this for you and set them accordingly. He/she can also give you
the details on how to create a profile for your environment.

You can indeed use a BCC field but this will not allow you to send
personalized e-mails. You can use the following tool which will Click Yes
automaticlly for you;
http://www.express-soft.com/mailmate/clickyes.html

I'm not sure if it works in Word 2000, but mail merging to html avoids the
prompt in 2002/2003. It doesn't matter where you begin the merge, you are
going to get the security alert fondly known as "HELL".

Oh wait - you use Exchange server? The admin can disable it - see
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm for more information.

Hi Diane,

Good name for the security alert...

I got a bit confused in your reply. Are you saying that
merging using OL2002/2003 in HTML would bypass the
security alert? Or am I going to get that regardless of
what format the document is in?

-Mark

PS. thanks for your reply!

HTML merges don't trigger HELL in OL2002/2003 indeed.
