e-mail desktop alert that stays visible?

Is there a way to get a e-mail desktop alert to stay visible like it use to
do in Outlook?
 
What version of Outlook are you using?

If you are using Outlook 2003, Desktop Alert is a new feature. Under
Tools->Options->E-mail Options->Advanced E-Mail Options there are options
such as
"Show an envelopen icon in the notification area"
"Display a New Mail Desktop Alert" (and you can change how long it displays
by clicking "Desktop Alert Settings..."
