e-mail attachments

Since uninstalling Earthlink Total Access, I can't open attachments. I found directions for undoing the problems for other Window operating systems, but not for XP.

Using which mail reader?

If Outlook Express, click TOOLS menu|OPTIONS|SECURITY tab and UNcheck the
"do not allow attachments to be opened" box.
 
Yes, it's XP, but it's not a security problem. The message I get is (Program exe not found. This program is needed for opening files of type 'Earthlink Email Message')
