e-mail address in the "to" line

When typing in an address in the "to" line in Outlook, the system will fill
in the rest of the name and the e-mail address automatically. However, it
sometimes fills in an address that is no longer in "contacts".

For example, someone has let me know their e-mail address has changed so I
update Outlook "contacts". The next time I send them an e-mail, the system
puts in the old address. If I highlight that address and ask "to look up
contact", the system reports that there is no such "contact" -- but the
system put the info on that line.

I am using Outook 2002 SP3.

How can I get Outlook to only use the "contacts" list for addresses?

Autocompletion has nothing to do with your Contacts. It uses a cache of
addresses derived from messages you have sent.
Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

Both responses to your inquiry were correct, however if you do not wish to
"Throw out the baby with the bath water", you may want to try our utility
for editing the autocomplete cache file (NK2). You can download it at
www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm. It's called Owtlook.

Good luck!
