E:\is not accessible, Incorrect function

All of a sudden I get the above err msg and cannot access
my DVD drive. I have recently installed the latest Service
Packs (ie. SP4). Could this be the culprit? I'm about
ready to go to Linux! I don't mind the err as much as not
getting a meaningful err msg. or telling me where to go to
decipher it!
 
I'm not using Norton Anti-Virus, but am using Norton
Internet Security. I'll try un-installing it.
