I use DWT's on my site. I've never had a problem making changes in the past,
though recently I added a button and when I tried to save the change I got an
error message that states front page has encountered a problem and needs to
close, any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?

Is the error repeating each time you try it?
Try running some FP cleanups
