Dyn. PFD + IE 6 + Reader 6 => Cannot open fdf?

H

Holger Linge

Hi

I have a problem with the configuration described above.

The dynamic PDF is a stream coming from an application server with a
content-type application/pdf. There is no file to download.

All other browsers (i tried current Netscape, Mozialla and Opera) have
no problem.

Only IE starts the Reader and then tells me (translated): "Adobe
Reader could not open "pa012121.fdf because this filetype is not
supported or the file is damaged".

I've no idea why he wants to open a fdf-file while i send him a pdf.

Leaves me clueless.

Have him check is file type definition for .pdf. It may be corrupt or is
missing.
It he received a .fdp file extension if may just be a problem with the
download, send him the file again with a new file name just to check.

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.
