I need something to repair a damaged dynamic disc. I have
a Seagate Barracuda 60 GB drive split into 2 partitions -
a 20 GB volume and a 40 GB volume. I tried to run the
boot disc procedure to repair the existing installation,
but the volumes show as Unformatted or Damaged. Is there
any hope of fixing this with outa format and reload?

THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU MIGHT HAVE

Have you ran the Seagate diagnostic tool? You can either get that from
Seagate, or it is also included on the Ultimate Boot CD, a CD which I would
never be without: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com

If Seagate tools report a physical disk error, you are likely out of luck.
I just had a 120 gig Seagate IDE drive die in a server, it was a basic disk,
so I could use all the other tools; but the drive was physically damaged and
not a scrap of data could be pulled from it.

In my experience the only way I have been able to recover data from a hard
drive with a dynamic volume was to move the hard drive into another computer
running Win2k/xp.

I would love to hear other replies though, I would kill for a dos/linux
based utility that could read a dynamic volume formatted with NTFS.
