DVD won't eject

DVD in either of my optical drives will not eject by either the drives eject
button or right clicking in explorer and choosing eject.

However if I play it then the players' eject option works fine. Also works
with my wireless keyboard's eject buttons.

I've had so many lockups and have run chkdsk /r from the recovery console so
many times I have to wonder if something's corrupted. Something seems to be
locking the DVD tray when I insert a disk.

What if you boot the machine to the BIOS screen (in other words - NO OS
involvement..)
Can you eject the DVD with the button?

Sorry I didn't get back to you but when I went to reply I got a message
saying the service was down. Yes the button on the drive worked fine when
booted to bios, also anytime before windows had fully loaded and even during
the shutdown process. I discovered the solution though.

I went into msconfig and unchecked all the Iomega stuff from under the
startup tab. I have an old parallel cable zip 100 drive and needed to get
files off of some "protected" zip disks. To unprotect the disks I have to
use Iomegaware even though they never updated it for XP. Apparently the last
time I had used it I forgot to go back to msconfig and uncheck it. Caused
all sorts of havoc for me. I can still use the zip drive with XP but I lose
the options of protecting disks or an actual format (erase yes, format no).
Or I can buy one of the newer zip drives, not worth the expense really.

Anyway, things are working OK now. Thanks for replying to my question. I
tend to run into some weird problems that I can usually track down on my own
without asking but it's nice to know that I can get help from others.
