dvd vob files on dvd, but can't find file splitting software

Hi!
I've recorded some of my favourite bands onto dvd through my sony dvd
recorder from tv, i've tried quite a few different video and dvd software
programs now to edit the VOB files on the dvd discs, but either they don't
recognise VOB files or they do and the software freezes when it loads or i
get really lucky and it all loads up well, but the software is either un-able
or not sophisticated enough for me to take out specific sections of the
video, i.e i want to remove unwanted programs i recorded, ads e.t.c a lot of
software advertises it can do this, but can't or i'm looking in completely
the wrong place, any help gratefully received!

I don't know what software your have already tried, but most of the
inexpensive video editing suits are absolute junk and rarely perform to user
expectations.

However, if you are doing nothing more complex than cut & splice (join), I
would recommend you download a trial version of a utility called
"VideoReDo".

http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/FeaturesOverview.htm

This should easily handle native VOBs and MPEGs; cuts and splices at frame
level boundaries (non-linear edits). VideoReDo is my own personal tool of
choice for cuts, simple joins, repair of sync issues, and all other
pre-processing related needs of clips, before final use in production
software. When I have finished pre-processing a clip or scene with
VideoReDo, I am reasonably confident that it is correctly formatted and
fully compliant.

I do not work for, nor do I represent DRD Systems. I am however, extremely
impressed with the quality of this product -- it is simple to use and works
as advertised!!
