dvd shuts down system

help as soon as i play a dvd my machine reboots after a few seconds into the
movie. i have a ricoh dvd+rw/+r drive which has worked perfectly 4 years.
any thoughts/ suggestions.

i am sorry about your issue. i think i might be able to fix your issue
without upgrading/replacing your device.

before i suggest a fix can you tell me what operating system you have and
what pc you are using so that i can find the best fix for you.
