DVD RW Drive won't open

My DVD RW Drive E will not open. I have tried to open it through "my
computer" but am unsuccessful - any suggestions?
 
Stick the pointy end of a paper clip into the little hole on the face of
the drive. If that doesn't open it, or if you have to resort to that
method frequently, get a new drive.

Can you open it using the eject button on the drive? How about when
Windows is not running, e.g., during POST?
