DVD +/- RW drive suddenly cannot burn DVDs anymore

Hi!

Just out of the blue my Sony DVD +/- RW drive cannot burn any DVDs
anymore. The DVD burner software gives an error message saying "Cannot
open file".

Since this happened right after I installed the latest updates from
Microsoft, I was wondering if anyone else was having similar problems,
and if a fix for this problem existed. I remember reading something
about a patch that broke all the DVD writing software.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

For those who are wondering, it's a brand new Sony 16x Dual Layer DVD
+/- RW drive and NTI DVD-Maker Gold software that came with it.

Sincerely,

What usually happens is that you now need to go update your CD/DVD burning
software to be compatible with the updated Windows. And "sometimes" you
actually need to update the firmware on your CD/DVD ROM itself.

Which is risky.
