DVD-RW drive does all but recognize blank DVD-R

Dear forum peapole,
I have a Sony vaio with a Matshita UJ-810 DVD-RW drive, it does all, it
ereases DVD-RW and writes on them as well, will read DVD movies and DVD-R
(non blanks).
It seems that I am not the only one with this caind of problem, is it a
software problem?
XP problem or the software used for burning?

Am using Drag n' Drop

You have to use third party DVD burning software for burning a DVD, XP only
has native CD burning capability.

go into my computer, right click on drive, goto properities,then go to
recordible tab and make sure the record cd is checked. I had this problem and
