DVD-ROM Viewed With Windows Media Player?

Darrell

Just upgraded a computer with a Compaq DVD-ROM,DVD-114, player in it.
Upgraded from Windows 98 SE to Windows XP Pro SP1. 128 MB Ram, AMD 700
processor, and a Diamond Stealth 3 16 MB S540 video card. My question, is
there a way to set up Windows Media Player to start up when a DVD is placed
in the drive? If not, what player would you recommend?
Thank You.

Windows Media Player does not come with a free pre-installed DVD codec. The
only way to get Windows Media Player to play DVD's is to download a codec.
You can purchase the DVD codec from the Microsoft website (not sure of the
link) which is supplied by InterVideo. Perhaps you could also buy it from
their website but I think it's cheaper getting the indiviual codec direct
from microsoft.

Cheers,

Thanks Daniel. Installed PowerDVD on the machine and that took care of the
problem.
