Dvd rom drive and cd rewriter

hi, my original operating system is windows millenium but
when i upgraded my windows to Xp i started to get trouble
with my dvd rom when i try to play a Dvd i get an error
saying please install the software which came with the DVD
but the problem is i didnt get any software and the other
problem i got is with my cd rewriter when i try to copy a
CD i get an error saying internal controller error could u
please send me the solutions for these errors thankyou

Since you did an upgrade and not a fresh install, the old drivers may still
be bound to the devices. I would go to the Device Manager, uninstall the
devices, reboot and let XP rediscover them. They should start working.

I have about the same trouble except that the Cd and DVD worked until I ( I think) recieved an update over the internet. The CD and DVD disappeared out of My Computer and I've not been able to coax it back in as I dont have a disk either. Did you get an answer? AL.....................
