DVD Re-writter refuses to eject disc!

J

John Carroll

I have a Philips dvd re-writer. The other night, whilst burning a
disc, there was a power interuption which turned the computer off.
Ever since, when I turn the PC on, the eject button fails to open the
dvd drawer. I have tried to open it from windows explorer & just get
the message that there is no disc in the drive.
The drive is visible in windows explorer. The power light also lights
up during the boot-up process - so it is not a blown fuse.
Anybody got any ideas - I'm completely at a loss other than trying a
chisel!

Have you tried to get the CD out by using the "eject hole" while the PC is
powered off? Have you tried to do the CD eject in "Safe Mode"?

It could be a "bad luck" and your drive in "fried!"

Try a paper clip instead!
