DVD will not eject

Hi

I'm running XP and have a GSA 4163B DVD drive. When empty it opens and
closes fine. But once I have run a disc from it the tray will not open -
either by pushing the button or selecting eject from properties. This happens
whether the disc is still spinning or not. When I am shutting down the
computer it will then open.

Any suggestions please?

Cheers

Thanks John,
It seems to be just DVDs (store-bought). CDs are fine. I'd have thought it
was a problem with the mechanics of the tray and DVDs being that bit thicker.
But it opens fine when the PC is shutting down.

It is still possible that a 3rd party CD or DVD burning program is
intercepting the eject command. If I were you, I would try
uninstalling all CD burning programs (perhaps 3rd party players as
well), reboot, and see if the problem goes away. No matter how the
test goes, you can always re-install the program(s) afterward.

Good Luck,
John
