DVD problems

I have 2 dvd drives in my machine, a Lite-on and a Philips. Both are dvd rw
+/- However when I insert a Packard Bell DVD-RW disc both drives show in
Explorer as cd drives and when I try to save a file to either of them I get
a message saying please insert cdrom. Any one any ideas why this happens?
Thanks
Tony

Because XP, as such, does not support DVD-R/RW-disks, only CD-R/RW
You need 3rd party software to write to DVDs.

You can also format them (packet writing) using something like Nero's InCD ,
after which it can be used like a giant floppy...
