Windows Media Player works perfectly - except that DVD playback is silent!

I can play music (using WMP 10) and watch TV (using my TV software) no
problem and the DVD shows OK - but no sound. Help!

Any ideas?

Look in the sound panel, is the sound for that device turned on with volume
set at above 0%? Is it an add on card? Some have a cable that must be
connected to your sound card- is that the case?

I'm having exactly the same problem but I don't know how to fix it. I've
updated my sound driver and directX but still no joy.

What dvd decoder or plugin are you using? If you are using a trial version
of power dvd or windvd that is why. WMP needs a plugin to properly play dvds.
The other reply is exactly right also, if this is an older system or older
dvd drive you need an audio cable that goes from the dvd drive to the sound
card.
