DVD not being read

I have IBM Thinkpad R52. Recently , i upgraded my combo drive to DVD
Multiburn recorder(DVD-writer). This thing handles CDs perfectly, but when i
use a DVD, the system crashes and reboots when this error :

In the web link that you provided it says to update your DVD driver.
