dvd failure

i have recently installed norton 2006.
my dvd rw does not access dvd's however will open cd's.
i have tried my external dvd rw but every time it says that the discs are
full and will not open dvd's please could you help me.

Are these data or video DVDs?

Similar problem for me, recently installed Norton 2006 and my dvd rw will
play music cds and dvds but will not recognize any cd-r's. It doesn't matter
if they are blank or if they already have music on them. I can't burn a cd
off of Napster cause my drive won't recognize cd-r's. Any advice?

By the way, I am a different Mark! Different but somewhat similar problem...

they are blank dvd-r had no probs before installing norton 2006

Does uninstalling Norton (or using System Restore) correct the problem?
