DVD drive and Decoding...?Nero

Howard

Accidentally posted this in the wrong spot yesterday..

I just built a new system and have a new CD writer as well as a
Pioneer A06 DVD read/write. They both came with Nero software, but
each software set only recognizes the drive it came with so I ended up
buying the new Nero 6 Ultra suite. The DVD drive also came with ULead
software that apparently has a DVD decoder.

My question is...right now I have nothing installed and if I put in a
CD I get a message saying there is no decoder. I have a Radion 9800
Pro graphics card. If I just install the Nero 6 Ultra edition, will
that also install a DVD decoder
so that I can watch DVDs..or do I need to install the ULead software
as well, that according to the Pioneer website, has a DVD decoder in
it?

Thanks.

I tend to think that you need the DVD decoder (software to playDVDs).

Even if it uses hardware decoding, some cards do that, you still need the
software to deal with everything else.
