DVD Drawer won't open

Hi
I have had an intermittent problem for a few days now but to-day it seems to
have become permanent.
Basically my DVD Writer drawer will not open any more. It started happening
on first boot ; I had to shut down and use a paper clip to open the drawer ;
rebooting would close the drawer and everything would work OK.
Same thing happened this morning but after reboot the drawer still won't
open.
Activity light on the drive is flashing for about 2 minutes during boot and
also when I try to eject drawer then goes out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Here is something else I've tried.
After shutdown and manually opening the drawer, I put CD in and rebooted.
The CD plays OK - ejects OK - closes OK and starts playing again. Strange.

I think I have sorted it . Went into Help & Support and they recommended
uninstalling via Device Manager, which I did and rebooted. Everything seems
to be back to normal. It's a pretty steep learning curve for me but I am
learning.
