DVD does not play

I followed the online steps at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/create/savetodvd.mspx
To save my movie as a DVD.

I used Roxio DigitalMedia Plus v7.2, Data, Data Disc, and created a data
disc of my DVD media.

When I tried to play it in the DVD player it did not work.
Any suggestions?
I'm guessing its the Roxio and I need other software? If so can you guys
recommend some FREE software to make this DVD?

You created a *Data* disk?
What you need is a Video DVD.
