dvd capacity recognition

when i insert a full written dvd disk in my dvd rom (sony ddu1621)
or my dvdr ( plextor px712a) and then i go to my computer-right clik
on each disk- properties i see only 2 mb contents
is it normal or is it something wrong

Maybe if you wrote which OS do you use... Some Older Windoze could have
problems with big sizes, as there were no DVDs at 1995.

Is there any problem, eg. DVDs not working?
