Been having problems burning dvd-r with imageburn.thought it was my
harddrive, so i formated and installed a fresh copy then installed all the
update with windows update. still was haven problems. so i formated again and
installed a fresh copy of windows , but this time i didnt install any
updates. It burned fine. i burned acouple more times just to make sure. then
i used windows update and updated again.. then it started again. seems that
an update is causen the hd buffer and the device buffer to jump around and is
causen burn errors.. its only when i update windows..????

Go to eBay and purchase Nero 7, 8, or 9. Version 7 is fine...,whichever you
find the cheapest.

Not an OS problem... the problem is with Imgburn, a freeware program.

I have noticed that one of the windows updates causes the enable cdburning
option to become unchecked, after your updates check properties on your
cd/DVD drive and see if enable burning is checked
