dvd burner not recognized

I just installed a Sony DVD burner in place on my MSI CD
burner, Windows will no longer recognize a D drive or the
new or old burner. I have been through the "add hardware
wizard" with no luck. Any Ideas???
 
Did you hook up the cable with the Red Stripe aligned with Pin1 on the
drive and Motherboard. Set it to Master, Slave
or Cable select?
