DVD Burn Dialog Box on Vista Premium

When I first installed Vista Premium and I put a blank DVD or CD in to the
drive a dialog box poped up asking about burning / formatting etc. I burnt
photos on to a DVD no problems.

Now my DVD RW does not even respond to me pushing the eject button. If I
push the 'burn' button on any files it does nothing. It is 'live' because as
the computer starts up you can see the light flashing and I can eject the
dvds etc until Vista fully loads.

It worked when I first installed Premium, about 4 days ago, but it does'nt
now.

I tried the cmd sfc/scannow and it did not find any problems.
My device is listed in the device manager and shows no problems and I did a
search for driver update and windows reports I have the latest drivers.
I tried disableing it and re-enableing it and no joy.
I did a search for new hardware and it came up with no new hardware.
I did a system restore as far back as it will go but did not fix it.
I have tried altering several settings in the what to do when a disc is
inserted etc.
I dont want to do a reinstall of Vista.

If the DVD RW had never worked I could probably understand it but it worked
fine at first. Now pushing burn button has no effect and pushing eject on dvd
does not work, unless as I said you do it out of vista.

Any of you clever chaps got any ideas? I am at a loss. Thanks!

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that you’re not the only one with this problem.
I haven't been able to get an answer that works yet. I'll keep an eye on
this topic. I hope someone has an answer now.

Alice, I sorted the DVD problem. Look up removing the upper and lower
filters from the registry. I googled for it. Dont ask me for the address I
tried so many I just cant remember which one! I removed the lower filter
(deleted an entry in registry) and ...........

Now the DVD works fine. I can use the Media Center or the Windows media
player to record etc. B

But I still cant get a response from the windows explorer Dialog box, the
one that pops up when you are looking a files etc in a directory. You can
click it and it 'goes in' but nothing else happens. I really think I am
missing eithe a dll file or a registry entry. You would think with all these
clever people on MSN they would have the answer.......... Let me know if
you sort it.
