DVD back up.

I am using DVD shrink to back up my kids DVD's (they get scratched, not put
back in the case properly, etc) but the Nero software that came with the
recorder has expired. Is there a DVD burning software that will create a
playable DVD? I have Google searched but have not really found anything from
millions of search results.

Create an .iso file with DVD Shrink and burn it with ImgBurn:

Kindly regards.

deepburner and cdburner xp pro

Will cdburnerpro allow me to create DVD's from mpegs and AVI's from my
camcorder?
Does it contain that lovely "spyware"?

certainly will - can your set top DVD play avi's and mpegs?

Otherwise as requested, both apps will allow you to burn DVD backups from
dvdshrink as long as you (of course) pop the files in the VIDEO_TS folder
and include at the root an empty AUDIO_TS folder

no spyware

I prefer deepburner btw

Maynard;

Would you expound on this?

tia,
Craig

I can expound on that. I have heard that there is a piece of burning
software that contains spyware. I can't remember the name of it, but
cdburnerxp sounds familiar. I'm not sure if it was or not, so I was just
checking before I install it. I currently have a pipas.a trojan that keeps
rearing it's ugly when I google that just will not go away and keeps on
re-installing itself after spybot kills it.

Cheers

Ok so;

You have heard that a burning s/w contains spyware. You don't know
whether it's cdburnerxp but the name sounds familiar. I've googled
"burner spyware" and there's no hits. Do you have anything else? Do
you remember from where you hear this?

Has *anyone* anything else on information of a burner software that
contains spyware?

Craig

Possibly EasyBurning ver 2.01. Not spyware, but possibly a trojan.

I had downloaded, but not installed, this software. I ran a virus scan
using McAfee version 8. McAfee reported a trojan called Newmalware.n in
EasyBurning. I have no idea whether this was a false positive or not.
However, to be on the safe side, I don't plan to use EasyBurning.

I am curious, though, to know if anyone else here might be able to shed some
light on whether or not there really is some type of malware contained in
EasyBurning.

Loren;

I haven't found anything regarding EasyBurning however Burn4Free appears
to have a fair amount of complaints regarding malware. See
<http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Burn4Free/1058031258/1>.
Additionally, burnforfree's privacy statement is pretty chilling.
Bottom line, Burn4free installs navhelper and has a very limited concept
of privacy rights.

I still haven't found any trace of any *mention* of malware associated
with CDBurnerXP. If anyone remembers even /hearing/ as much, I'd
appreciate it if you post.

regards,

- Craig
