Grandma Needs Help

Help-I have a short slide show with music-first time using Movie Maker-I have
WinDVD to play DVD's. Purchased Sony DRX-840U to burn DVD's which came with
Nero 7 Essentials. Question-Cannot burn a DVD of the slide show. Have read
Nero 7 Essentials has a few problems or maybe it's just Granny. Format of my
slide show is in wmv format. Plays fine on the laptop using winDVD and Nero 7
but will not burn to a DVD. Do I need to uninstall Nero 7? Purchase other
software to burn a DVD? What is the best software to buy to burn a DVD?
Change the format? How do I do that? Using Windows Xp.
Any help grateful and appreicated..... THANKS

If your version of Nero includes NeroVision...
that is the program you need for burning a
video DVD.

If you do not hhave NeroVision...the following
free download will burn a Video DVD. I'm also
including instructions and some links to articles:

DVD Flick
http://www.dvdflick.net/

Be sure to read the Guide:
http://www.dvdflick.net/guide.php

If you have problems downloading DVD Flick...
try the following direct link:

http://tinyurl.com/6gt7p2
or...
http://voxel.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/dvdflick/dvdflick_setup_1.3.0.4.exe

Save the file to a folder on your hard drive and
install from there.

To create a basic Video DVD that should play in a free
standing DVD player...try the following...

Good luck.

First...read the DVD Flick Guide to familiarize yourself
with the program.

Open DVD Flick and insert a blank DVD in your burner.

If your computer's Autoplay window opens....just close it.

Click the Project Settings button and go to...Video /
Target format...residents of USA...choose...NTSC /
Accept.

Left click the Add title button and browse to your
Movie Clips and select the ones you want on the DVD.

You can arrange them by selecting one and then use
the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Left click the Create DVD button / OK / Yes / Yes.

Wait while the DVD is created.

When the text "Finished Successfully" appears you
may close DVD Flick. Now you can eject your DVD
and play it in your DVD player.

At some point you may wish to purchase more
advanced software like Nero, Roxio, Ulead, etc...but
at least this is a start.

John,
Thanks for all the good info you sent....dvd burned perfect with no flaws
and played great. If I could have you answer another questions for me and
help spend some of my money :) that would be great. I have looked at three
editing software packages VideoSudio X2, Roxio Creator 2009, Pinnacle
Studio Plus Version 12. Give me your imput on these three packages. Is one
better than another? How do they compare with Window Movie Maker.....quit
laughing....I'm serious about this. I have started another project using
Mover Maker along with Photo Story 3. Once again THANKS for all your help.

You're welcome.

Thanks for the update.

As for the software you mention...I have no
specific info on either of them but I think
my personal choice might be Corel Video
Studio® Pro X2.

A few other DVD Authoring programs that
may be worth a try are Nero 9, Ulead DVD
Movie Factory 6, Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

I'm thinking your best bet would be to download
the trial versions and make your own assessment.

I'm kinda partial to Ulead Movie Factory 6 Plus as fairly cheap at $80.00
and does the job.

Tried Pinnacle Studio 10 and found the learning curve to be quite steep,
although PS10 has more features than Factory 6

As John says.......for about $20 more the Video Studio ProX2 might be a good
choice.
