DVD and CD Audio playing too fast

I just installed a DVD writer drive and went to watch a movie on to find
everyone talking sounded like chipmunks. I checked an audio CD in my other
optical drive and it was the same.

Don't know when it happened or how to fix. Couldn't find anything on the MS
support/FAQ site.

Any suggestions?

update your sound card drivers.
 
What is the make of your sound card? I know that Creative Lab's Audigy line
of soundcards can have a special feature to speed up the sound.
