Dv recognized but no video

When I use the export to DV option to save a movie back to DV tape, the
DV device is recognized. It is controlled properly, that is, started
and switched to record. The only problem is that NO VIDEO is
transferred to the tape. Otherwise, everything looks normal for a PC to
tape transfer. The only thing that shows on the DV camcorder besides
the red recording dot is blue screen.

What's the camcorder brand and model?.... and I have to assume it's
connected by firewire, not USB.

I had to enable the DV-in feature in my camcorder menu... Sony TRV80

Try saving to your hard drive as a DV-AVI file and using the WinDV utility
to copy it to your tape.... there's a link on my Setup > Other Software
page.

One camcorder is a SOny DCR-PC-100 and the other is a Panasonic PV65GS.
I have used the SOny regularly on a WIN98SE PC to edit and return video
without any menu changes. The Panasonic is new.

The problem is with XP HOME laptop using Cyberlink
PowerDIrector/PowerProducer then I tried MovieMaker, assuming that both
those software packages really utilize WMM as input and output.
You are right, it is via Firewire.

I will check your reference.
